Stay strong.
First off, I think this is something practically everyone who has been in a long term relationship will deal with. Security is one of the founding needs we all have and it is next to impossible to not become intimately connected with the other person, therefore, when they are no longer in our lives, we suddenly have a vacuum and we feel lost and in many cases unable to move.
I think the key here is to look deep within yourself and ask what you need. The other person fulfilled at least some of those needs, but not all, hence, the probable main reason it did not last. However, it is important to remember that there are literally millions of people out there with many of those same qualities. Our needs also change over time, so what we were is not necessarily who we are today. Sometimes we outgrow the other person, or they outgrow us.
If you get clear on what you want and then focus on those qualities you seek, then in time the right person will appear. No none can make you happy, only you can do that. I think you first have to take time to reset and figure out what you really want - the why, and in time, the right person - a big part of the how, will show up.
Sending you hugs...
