Me and my ex fiance are "friends". What that means in our case is that we still love each other very much but circumstances (life) keeps us apart and neither of us is ready to just let it go. Both of us move forward in life and in relationships the best we can but stop every once in a while to email, let the other know the where, what and who's...that their alright and still hanging in there. To say "I love you".
It's been three years now and I know that one day I just wont hear back, and I'm prepared for that (I think).
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Just how unhealthy do you think this is?

unhealthy? well if you and her are okay with it, then who are we to say its unhealthy.

i am still friendly with some of my ex's but I don't tell them that I love them.....

so do you guys date other people?

Yes, we're both with different people and several states apart. My boyfriend now knows that I still hear from him while I'm certain that he keeps me a secret.

My ex spouse and I are in constant contact. They are now one of my best friends. It's great to see our relationship come to this course, and stay on it. It's probably the best connected that we have ever been.

I don't think its unhealthy if you can make it work. The problem arises when one either consciously or unconsciously is still on the hook and moving on.

I think if it is friendly only AND if the people you are dating/married to both know about the contact, then it is healthy. I am still friends with my ex but was always open about it and I think that both makes it honest and keeps it that way.

There should be no reason to hide a friendly relationship with your ex from your new SO. If you do there are probably unresolved issues on your part, and that is not fair to your new SO.

#6, Absolutely correct. If you feel you have to hide something, there's some underlying unresolved issue.
