I am a quiet divorced of two months and I belong to a church where there are some ladies a couple years younger than me that love to not only gossip about the situation, but also get son taken away from me. One of them came up to me last Sunday and asked me if I was ready to give up? How should I handle this? My ex and I have resolved things in a peaceful manner and she is trying to make a big deal out of nothing with everybody believing her. Help!

This is where character comes into equation. You have to stand tall and not let these people beat you down. You will not stop them from saying or thinking whatever they want, so don't try. I found friends and families position on my split was upsetting, but I quickly found that it is a wasted concern. Simply put - I cannot control what people say and do - and more importantly, if they are not interested in asking me what happen, or if something my ex said is true or not, then I just move on.
The upside here is that you soon know who are the REAL people in your life.

I would change churches too....this is not the right supportive environment for you....church should be a peaceful place, not a stressful place with petty people
