The other day I finally went through ALL of the pictures on my computer(and there were a lot) and put any pics that had my ex in them into a different folder and made it invisible. That way when I was looking for a different picture I didn't have to see him. My question is that a friend told me that I shouldn't have left it on there at all and that I should just flat out delete them, he thinks that I am keeping them there as a way to "punish" myself because I still feel guilty about what happened to my niece.

So what does everyone else think? What have you done with pictures? I wasn't sure I was ready to just get rid of them but is it just one of those things where it will hurt to be rid of them in the beginning and be better in the end or should I wait until I feel it is time?

Since we have children together I am giving most of them to my children. I really don't like thinking about him...

Mine went into the garbage, wedding photos and all. No point holding onto the past.

The funny thing though is my daughter gave me a framed photo of herself for fathers day last year and I hung it above my mantel. My ex father and mother in law were visiting last year. I went to the bathroom and came back and the mother in law explained how the father in law was wondering why I had a picture of my ex up, he didn't realize it was his granddaughter and not his daughter.

Once I took a hard look at it it did amaze me how in that picture they looked so alike.

So I have no pictures of my ex, just one look alike lol

My X and I have a son, so I took all the pics of the X and put them on a removable zip drive thingy for my son. It was my way of removing the X from MY life so I didn't have to see him, but allowing him to be in my son's life.

I packed all of mine up and put them into storage. I'll probably give them to my daughter someday... if she wants them. I deleted the digital ones from the computers.

I had a huge picture of our entire wedding party hanging above the entrance to our kitchen. It was almost impossible to replace due to its size. I didn't want the spot to look empty. I finally found a long poster to replace it with and gave the picture to my daughter. The one other picture we had done is in my sons room. There are very few snapshots of him bc he never went to any family parties with me. Any that did have him in it never got printed anyway. They are still on my computer somewhere, I just don't look for them.

I put all of the pictures in a box, sealed the box and tied with string. Then I sent to them to my sisters house where she is storing them for me. I couldnt have his energy or presence in my home. Anything digital has been saved to a thumb drive and that went in the box too. A time capsule of sorts, but for my son. Anything written, cards,notes, letters from his deployment I burned. Im sorry i did that now because I want my son to see that at one time we did love truly love each other as a husband and wife should.

I have most of the pictures on CD's and I was editing them the other day..Of course I came across the ones with my stbx and his son..Bittersweet memories..I love that child as if he was my own, and because of this I will keep and treasure the photos I have.

If you don't have kids with them then I would say your not over him and that is why you keep the pics

When I moved out the house over a year ago, the wedding pictures, and pictures of the last 20 years were simply put in photo boxes. I still can't go thru them, but will pass them on to my kids.

Lots of memories of happier times that belong to them.

Something I found very telling was that in the 12 yrs we were married I couldn't get him to go get a family portrait done with my son and I. Hmmmmmm?? Red Flag??

Since I left all my stuff is still at the house. I left 2 years ago. He wont let me have anything from the house. So, I dont have any pictures.

No we didn't have any kids and I don't really want to see them but still it felt awkward to just delete them. Was just wondering if I should?

The way I see it, my ex is a huge part of my past. I don't like looking at the pictures, but I'm keeping them.

Splitting up the family pictures is a chore - we have so many. My ex scanned some, but there are still hundreds I don't have. I want all the pictures of my kids growing up, I don't care if she is in them or not. Someday I will be able to view them.

If there were no kids involved, I would have gotten rid of all the photos ... but since we have sons, I'll save the pics for them.
