I am ashamed to admit that I was at the first movie in 1964 and left the theater because the silly girls were crying and screaming over 4 long haired dudes.. I went back home and complained. Gulp.. In years to come I became very fond of them , but in the beginning it was a rough start for me. I would not go see the Rolling Stones either because they were taking everything that moved to bed ..LOL. Several of my high school friends went and I heard of the exploits after.. Oh my..

I was captain of our high school's It's Academic team. It's Academic is a quiz show in which high schools from the DC metro area send 3-person teams to compete against each other in answering questions that range in scope from US and world history, mathematics, science, sports, and many other fields.

The matches were televised live from the WRC TV station in Washington (channel 4). Our team won two matches in the fall before losing in the semifinal rounds in the spring. I still have a tape of myself nearly forgetting to thank your school sponsor after winning the second game.

Yes the puppet was named howdy doody but the man that worked him was Buffalo Bob Smith and that is who I think of when I think of Howdy.. Sorry for the confusion.. I liked him as much as the puppet.. LOL.

I guess I was too young for a Beatles concert. Too bad though. Sounds great. I gave up my ticket to see The Grateful Dead to attend my younger cousin's high school graduation. It seemed the right thing to do, but I kind of regret it now. I have seen Dylan though.

Edward.. that is wonderful.. My middle daughter was on a team like that and on tv also. Her school did not win but it was still cool that she went and represented..

think of the ds tv show we could have... we would put Jerry Springer to shame.
