A friend of mine called, telling me about going to the coast and getting a summer job on a fishing boat. He described how, without any skills, he was still able to obtain work as a "bait boy" on the boat. It was his job to make sure the bait was provided, cut up, if necessary, and even put on the hooks if the customers wanted him to do that. He did well, was given more responsibilities, and advanced quickly in the job. By the summer, he had done so well that he was made: "Master Baiter"

KE...I guess it had to be said sooner or later...it just seemed too easy..
Benny Hill was my favorite. I also remember two women on a series, with a daughter. One was an alcoholic and the other a rich basket case. The daughter was the only normal one. You know the show I'm talking about?
A sailor on a Navy ship had been out to sea for weeks, and was beginning to go through sex withdrawals. Fed up with the lack of sex, he asked one of his shipmates what he did when the pressure was too much to take.
"Well, there's a barrel with a hole in it near the mop storage. When it gets to be too much for us, we use that."
So the sailor went over to the barrel and decided to give it a go. Finding it was better than he'd expected, he began using it regularly, and his problems seemed to vanish.
After a couple of weeks, his commanding officer began to take notice, and said, "You seem to be a lot more relaxed. What's your secret?"
The sailor, embarrassed to give a straight answer, simply said he'd been getting better rest.
"Well good, sailor. You're going to need it," replied the officer. "Today's your turn in the barrel."
KE...*eye rolling and groan....
That's an old one. :-P
I have no doubt that he could contribute more than few maritime jokes, and would make telling them more fun, since he spends so much time on a boat.
