Do you read the "Recent / Latest Activity" section of DS? If so, then why? It seems intrusive and nosy to read what other people are doing in private...

I agree, but then I feel the same way about reading people's diaries, I mean journals :(

I agree. This has been brought up in the Member's Community but DS admins seem set on their view that it's fine.

eh, it is what it is. people will use it or not use it for their own purposes.

I just chose not to. I dont need to and some times do not want to know what others are doing, who they are doing it with or what they are saying if it isn't between them and I.

They do limit it to open journals. But that doesn't protect you if you leave a journal open by mistake or open it for a short time.

Sometimes I think twice when receiving a friend request, as I don't necessarily want people to know who I am friending and when. I would prefer privacy settings to fix this issue. I would also like the option of having to manually show people you are online, rather than just logging me on and showing people at start up (Meebo).

Patti, I just never quite "got" the idea of putting a journal online in any capacity. I don't knock people who do, I just have always had reverence for people's real "book" journals/diaries, so reading them published online feels weird to me. I have read them and I do read them, but it always feels weird.

I try not to even read other people's journals, unless invited, it makes me feel nosy, and I don't like that....

I used to have someone on here that would yell at me because I gave such and such a hug or commented on someone's journal, or posted a particular thread.... it was a bit creepy and a real big trigger for me.
