friends are the family we get to choose

I learned that my true friends remember me when I am feeling really low. Lately, three sets of true friends have ponied up and visited me to cheer me up.. I wont get into it, but they help me more than my family. I'm there for my family, but they don't stop and think that sometimes I need someone who knows where I come from, to help chase away the blues and maybe share the load.....

A good friend will bail you out of jail.
A true friend will be sitting right next to you....

unfortunately it took this divorce for me to see how fair feathered many of my friends are...

Not to hijack this thread, but being a vegetarian with loads of experience (I was raised vege, not just converted later).
Crumbled garden burgers are not a very good substitute for ground beef (in my opinion). They are also very expensive.
In taco's, I use granulated TVP (textured vegetable protein, look it up) and taco flavoring. I've got a recipe for taco sauce I use.
You can also make your own garden/vege burgers using TVP. The last ones I made came out great, with loads of veges in them.
Next experiment is going to be vege-dogs, as morning star farms stopped making the only decent vege-dog out there.

I found out everyone bailed on me, except for a few I met here online. Don't know if they don't want to get involved or whatever, but HE, who did this all maintains his circle of friends, like they seem to condone what he did. Is that how men work? Really, I would like to know. Not only does he has men friends but women too. Me...who did not do a thing, has lost it all. I have 1, maybe 2 good friends that I don't get see cuz they live far away. But knowing I have the one makes me happy. I have been there for my friends thru the deaths in families, hard time, etc...now everyone left me. I found out what "true" friends are really made of. If I sound bitter, sorry, I guess it comes off that way, and maybe inside I am.

Dutch - I think they added egg to the veggie crumbles. It's why the black bean burgers aren't vegan (which breaks my heart!!)

Dave - have you tried SmartDogs? Not as good as the Morningstar Farms ones, but not bad.

So am I just Memorex? ( oh god does that make me sound old...)

You can't pick and chose your family, but you can pick and chose your friends. My friends...are the brothers and sisters I've never had. I am truly humbled by how much they have ALL rallied around me during my time of need....ALL doing a little something to pick me up. I have friends that have helped me put together a to do list, a list of questions for my attorney, get me the telelphone numbers to cc companies, call me EVERY morning for the past 4 months during my commute to work. Last night one of my friends wife called me on her way to the supermarket....just to see how I was doing. I saw her over the weekend but bc she was hosting wasn't able to really talk with me on things...so she called me last night. They have embraced me and my girls in their lives....I honestly don't have any idea where I would be without them today. I've said this to a few people...I apparently can't pick a wife for shit....but I sure can pick some amazing friends.
