Kids and I just got back from a 5 mile bike ride (round trip) to go get ice cream. This was my 7 year old daughter's first Big trip, and she held up like a champ. yeah. More trips in the future!!

The ice cream just tastes better when you work for it, doesn't it?
OH... and on the beach, not sure why.

One of my divorced friends just told me about her date this weekend. He rented a movie about incest and when she insisted on shutting it off, he said "Let's go to the baseball field." She thought there was a game there...no, nothing happening and no one there. She said "You can take me home now." Needless to say it was a handshake goodbye.. she was very creeped out. i asked her if it was her worst date. She said, "Sadly, no." Lol!

omg...that would have freaked me out for sure! He would be in severe danger.

I had a friend in Colorado many years ago who had a really bad date. He met a woman who took him back to her place. First red flag was the door was a double keyed deadbolt (needs a key to open it from the inside also) which she locked when he was inside. Then she proceeded to show him her collection of dead animals she had collected to put into an 'art' piece.
He feigned needing a cigarette and when she let him into her back yard he ran for it. Her house, as it turns out was in the next town over, so he had to walk the 25 miles home, on the train tracks b/c he was too afraid of her finding him on the roads, and got home by the next morning.
True Story, to the best of my knowledge.

Five miles round trip isn't much on a bike....it's really not. The thing was that we had to cross some major roads, following the lights, getting into the turn lanes and such. Neither kid had ever done that before.

But now that we've done it once, we'll do it again. And I'll try to think of some other destinations

And yes, the ice cream Did taste better biking to it. (Well that and the fact that I'm cheap and haven't taken them Out for ice cream this summer.) Don't worry, their dad has, and we eat enough of it at home. But I figure, if they're willing to bike to it, that I'd treat.
