Rman - a big city isn't necessarily lonely because there is so much to do. Find a museum, art gallery, part. Watching babies and dogs always cheers me up when I have that "alone" feeling.

I took a red-eye to N.Y. from California to drop my daughter off at college. We weren't able to check in to the place we were staying for hours, so we sat in Washington Square Park. A Pigeon pooped on my shoulder and hair, and a homeless man laughed at me.

Pigeons suck.
