I dont know if your being asked to be in one or what, but I have only heard of very few actually working out. I personnally would NEVER take part in one! I do NOT share with anyone and do not want to be shared. For lack of better words people that are in open relationships have very little respect for commitment! IMHO
It's not my thing at all.
They do not place "Feelings" onto themselves nor to other involved which explains how they easily do it with others and move around.
This is ok as long as ppl who are involved in this this kind of relationship knows the "rules/nature" of the relationship (what to expect, what the person is doing) and possible consequences of living a life in such way.
Its their life and as long as they are not playing with someone other innocent ppl) who think otherwise (ppl who belive in meaningful, genuine relationship, sharing feelings etc...) than i think its ok.
If you are someone who has "feelings" (most humans are) and even more so in the relationship, you should stay away. the world they are living/playing will be very different to yours.
The thing im worried about is this "player's daughter", how she is going to grow up looking at what her father is doing...she will probably grow up thinking that what her father is doing is "Normal/Typical" in the relationship..... and then she will go to school with that sort of idea/belief possibly influencing other kids around through her words/action..... like disease sprading...
one cannot underestimate the "interconnection" between ppl, how ppl can influence one another through their behaviours...
I know that you know these kind of relationship is wrong, but if you keep staying with them, interact with these ppl, you will start to think that over time, what they are doing is normal. This is because, if anyone were to keep seeing/ hearing/feeling something repeatedly/frequently, it somewhat becomes "normal" in their view. (somewhat unconsciously "brainwashed")
For example, lets say you are in part of group of close friends, someone whom you see/interact on daily basis... if they all wore... "lady gaga's style of clothing" (for example) everyday... you who see and interact with them on daily basis, can you say your style of clothing won't be affected by them ? for few reason.. because you want to blend into the group (form of acceptance..) or because you got used to their taste hence it became "normal" for you (influenced unconsciously) etc...
This is actually one of the main reason why some parents get actively involved when their kids make friends at school. the reason being is the "friends circle" has huge influence (they set moral standards, what is right/normal thing to do and what is not etc...) on their kid's view/beliefs which effect their attitude and hence their life. when they hit puberty, regardless of gender, they push away parents and stay lot more close to friends which amplify friend's influence on kid's life.
The things is, what one see/hear/feel "often" in their lives become their "norm".
If you do not believe/understand what they are doing, then stop interact with them. if you keep them in your lives, they will have "influence" on you, (at least unconsciously....)
You need to know that there is a "cost" for having these sort of relatioship. its true they will have lot of sensual pleasure without any constraint hence there is a freedom but having fun at the same time. but having them often with many other stranger depreciates value/meaning/depth in one's life as there are no feelings involved. there is no intrinsic value, its just a mere "surface" touch of genuine happiness which can only arises from authenticity of feelings. By living such lives, they are making their own lives shallow and empty, they are numbing their own feelings and feelings of other who interect with them. its like a plastic mannequin. not having a feelings is like not having a soul. there is nothing inside... within themselves and the "activites" they do. I also think there is cost in terms of mental/psychological effect on one's mind. i mean think about it... even if one do get into bed with someone without any feelings, the intimacy it involves in such "activites" (mingling bodies, sharing warms and embracing one another in private/personal level), how can there be no feelings to one another on personal level ? can ppl who do these sort of things can possible have "right" mind ?. .. its like they are doing something that "naturally" requires lot of feelings for one another but they are doing it without one....
open relationship >>> oxymoron
If you do not believe in, or are comfortable with polyamory, then leave him alone.
Neither of you are wrong, just different people with different wants and needs.
He isn't allowed to be around this lady's children so its week on and week off. I am just so confused because he is always either flirty and always texting me or then the opposite.
I mean, not every relationship has to be the typical husband and wife routine....Thank god.
I am not wired for that type of relationship. I can be friends with a lot of different people, but I can't be romantically involved with more than one.
