has anyone successfully used one instead of a lawyer? I really dont want 2 go with a lawyer b/c they cost a lot and we make 2 much money 2 get legal aid. maybe after we separate then itll b an option. but if i can do it myself then that seems a better choice.

A friend of mine did that it worked out great .It was fast to. It cost him around $300 after all said and done.

Me and my exwife used a paralegal service I found on-line. We worked out an agreement that we both could live with and filled out all the worksheets that the paralegal sent us. Then they put it in the correct format to send to the county. We sighed it and sent it in. It cost about $500-$600 for everything. As long as you can agree the lawer will only cost you more money.

I live in Delaware County and I did my own divorce. It cost me $70.00. Because Delco is a very rich location, they charge a lot. I filed with Potters County. They are very rural. It's still PA. Google Potters County, PA. Call the prothonatary. They will tell you what you need.

I think you are under too much risk that way. Both of you would have to be in agreement so it would go smooth. Too many people have to fight through divorce and things get ugly and you need more advice then a do it yourself kinda thing. That's my opinion.

Some friends of mine in Austin, Tx did thier's that way. If you and your stbx are amicable that would be the best route. He paid $199.00 for some for template for the decree and great legal advice. He filed it w/ the courts himself for $275.00. That is all they paid.

Depending on your income, you can have your expay the legal fees! In my case, I am on SSI and I get representation pro bono. However, my ex still pays all fees as well as some of my own attorney.

On-line is not too good as there is no "face" time with the people working with you. You could go to a divorce clinic where they do the forms for a certain fee.

Also, did you go in for joint counseling? If not, it may help to resolve issues to keep the marriage or to leave it with better feelings.

i found a site that has the 3 steps ( in CA) and you can fill it out online, print them and it give you instructions on when/how to file.. right before my court case i went to self help center and they have attorneys on hand that will view your judgement packet. PM me and i will get you the link. i know it has info for other states too.
