LOL... sometimes pastors forget the simple things too.!!!
thanks, and I have. I just wondered what others would do in this situation. There is much more to this story than I have posted but if you read my journal, I believe you can figure out why I made this post. Even Pastor's, who come from a past like mine, still have to deal with the flesh, as did the Apostle Paul. We as Pastor's are not exempt from the memories and pain of the past.
Thanks for you reply.
OldBiker... you and I both believe that the only reason we're going to heaven is because of His sacrifice for us... we accepted it and its done...
We have not and cannot earn our way to heaven... I know that, personally, my life has earned me a berth in Hell.. probably as the Devils right hand man for some of my more heinous crimes... But His blood, poured over me, has earned me a first class ticket to heaven...
His Blood, His Sacrifice, His Death... My Gain through Acceptance.
this man.. who may have done any number of wrong things to you and others... has the same opportunity... I would not pity him.
Rather I would only be able to hope that He availed himself of the Lords gift... Such that you can both stand together in heaven... not as enemies but as Brothers in the Lord.
I hope he did give his heart to the Lord but, there is and was never any evidence of it at all. He was a pedophile, praying on his own young cousins for sexual fun, got one of them pregnant when she was 15. He should have been charged with statutory rape and I never knew him to enter a church in his life. We were never friends. He threatened to kill me when I was 18 years old. I offered him a chance when I was 25 but, he backed down. You see, at 18 years old, I was 6 ft, 130 lbs. At 25, I was 6 ft 4 in. 240 lb Biker who could care less. I truly believe God intervened in this situation or someone could have died years ago.
I know your feelings... I've given up an old life, that existed more than half of my lifetime ago... and I've been able to come to closure over my criminal life and the repercussions of it.
But every now and then... something happens that causes me to revert and wallow in self-loathing for a few minutes/hours/days...
Just be aware that remembering past pain and past anger is ok... just don't let it overwhelm you...
and we come back to, give it to Him again.
When i first walked away from my past life and dedicated myself to the Lord... I told my pastor that i was constantly feeling guilty for my past... and he said that EACH time i feel that way... to give it to Him and eventually those feelings will fade... and they do... i went from daily guilt.. to weekly guilt... to periodic guilt...
I believe its also a tool that the enemy can use against you...
Be Blessed Buddy!!!
