I don't get it how can someone throw away 18 years like they don't matter? To my stbx told me he started to file the papers. He said he wants nothing more to do with me. It's been 8 days. He says he still loves me but is not in love with me. why am I the only one crying my eyes out? Why am I the only one who feels so empty inside ? Why do I miss him so much when he is acting so hateful. I know I wasn't perfect but I loved him still do.

Many of us got that line, i love you BUT______

They are usually checked out and emotionally
Disconnected long before they made any move
To leave. They usually have someone new all
Lined up and Ready to go.

I got it after 30 years and he has no remorse or concern
For me only about the financials and how things Effect
him. We could not have any normal conversations, those
days were gone. It was all about the divorce and Getting it
done. He is no longer your husband, think more adversary.

Get a good lawyer, therapist and divorce care helps a lot
With the grieving and divorce process. HUGS

Let's back the bus up regarding world war 3 here. There are 2 yrs separation to go. Give it space and time.

What were the signs he was unhappy angela? The big things you two disagreed on? Like children or where to live? Were you two having an equal marriage? 18 yrs says he loved you , but 18 yrs says something was jammed and wouldn't shift so it broke.

Time and space is the first step. The first few days is really hard (Im a month separated.) but you do start getting clarity. In my case I realised that my soon to be ex was verbally abusing me for years and that my trust and my thoughts on him had changed. He did the same thing as your husband he said he loved me as his best friend but hasnt been in love with me. He was cruel and hurtful said the meanest of things to me and I truly believe he has been having a affair. But you know what... It sucks right now and it is hard. You will have days you will hate him and cry your eyes out and then you will have days that you will feel strong. Like you im at the beginning stages and it really is an emotionally roller coaster. Get a good therapist and yes find a good lawyer. But also dont let him bully you and make you rush into anything. I told my ex that im doing this in my own time and way and even though he wants me gone it wont be that easy. He lost this control over me once i decided to leave and take back my life. We can do this with the support of our families, friends and this group. If you ever need to talk dont hesitate to message. You are not alone.
