Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Hi Everyone,
I am goinging througha pretty rough breakup and I'm hoping to get some support and help with others where I can. In August, I found out my boyfriend of 6 years had been unfaithful and had given me an STD. He is the only person I have ever been with, and despite all the proof I have, his answer was always "i don't know". Since then, I have moved out and I've been no contact.
The betrayal still hurts, and I feel I can't trust anything he as ever said. I not only lost my partner, but my bestfriend since we met. I have since found out there were alot of things wrong in my relationship, and I know its good that I'm not in it anymore.
Our friend group is shared, I have met some of my oldest friends through him. Now, I'm trying to figure out if i should try and be friends with him to reduce akwardness and keep the peace. Based on my friends behavior, they have kind of shown that is doesn't matter what he does, they are still going to be his friend. I feel they are sick of my bringing up relationship related problems (looking for advice and reassurance mostly) and I feel kind of alone. I've tried my best too keep things diplomatics, and I understand there are certain things I shouldn't say. I feel I am being pushed out of shared spaces, and the only time I'm involved in a hangout is if I plan it.
I'm trying to move on but everything feels still unresolved, and Iam scared I'm going to lose my friends. I would appreciate any insights anyone has, or any recommendations.
Best,
S

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I'm sorry that you've been so badly hurt
Something very similar happened to me many years ago
With regards to being friends
I don't know if you can have a healthy friendship if you're still feeling betrayed
It reads like you're still in a lot of pain
With regards to your friends if these ate friends that you've met through him they're probably very uncomfortable talking about it or about him
What about finding an in person support group?
There are all different types of groups on MeetUp's
I would stop talking to the group of friends that you met through him about him and your breakup if it were me
They probably don't know what to do or say and I imagine that they value both of you
Another hug...It takes time to heal
This is a loss that you're grieving and it hurts...xo

So I had to break up. You did the right thing. I really liked that then boyfriend.
I don't know if you can be friends or around him at social events. Maybe tell some of the close friends who are women what happened. Really close people. Don't be embarrassed or full of shame at what happened but also don't tell the whole world.
I would advise you to begin to create a new social group. Do new things, take care of yourself. Even start to do things on your own. I went on to a bad marriage and then a happy marriage late in life.
