Hello everyone,
As the title says my wife is pregnant and although for most marriages it is a blessing in our case it is not. Let me explain why.
I come from a large family - I have two brothers, one 2 years older the other 14 years younger. My parents despite some difficulties are still together. While marrying my wife I accepted that sooner or later we will have children.
My wife on the other hand is an only child raised by a single mother. Their relationship is quite bizarre - before our marriage they haven't met for years. Because of the tough childhood my wife never wanted children. She openly said she hated them and couldn't imagine herself being a mother.
Recently we found out that we are going to become parents in April.
What can I do to convince my wife that it will turn out all right? I see how stressed out she is and it really hurts. Sometimes I think she hates me because of the baby.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and support.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Just a brain fart. . .
Gentle support while you find what works for you, Bastian.
Let your wife come to terms with her pregnancy in her own time. Be supportive. Good luck and I hope eventually you and she come to terms with this miracle.
Intuitionally I feel that everything will be ok in the end.
I guess I must be patient and let her decide for herself. I just hope she will go through this amazing baby period with me.
Have a nice day and thanks once again.
What you do is ask her what would help and/or list things that you're willing to do and let her pick. And without bending over, or compromising any personal beliefs...you do that.
Help is helping in the way that people want, in the way they want, in the time they want.
Maybe she'd like you at all her doctor's appointments. Maybe she'd like someone to make dinner every night. Maybe...whatever. Ask her.
And, like Arfie said, maybe you need to get yourself prepared to raise the child happily on your own. You CAN make that okay for both you and your child.
While I can’t relate as a parent, I can relate as the child, and only son of a single parent. I’m living proof that a pregnancy, even in what might seem to be an unfit situation, can work out great, and so you should reassure her that she’ll have your support through it all.
The good news for you is that your situation isn’t unfit, and you should remind her that family history doesn’t necessarily always repeat itself, and that your situation is different than those of her mother. Reassure her of your commitment to her and the baby, and that you believe she will be an amazing mother.
<a href=” http://bit.ly/2gpgKm3”> Here </a> is an article that you could share with her about first time pregnancies to hopefully ease some of her initial concerns.
As for me, as a praying man, I will be praying for your situation. Hang in there.
