My Parents Drugged me as a Kid
The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a Meth lab had been found in and old farmhouse in the adjoining county and asked me a rhetorical question, Why didnt we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?
I replied I had a drug problem when I was young. I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings and funerals. I was drug to family reunions and community social no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didnt put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity. I was drug out to pull weeds in moms garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dads fields. I was drug to the homes of family, friends and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow there, yard, repair the clothes line , or chop some fire wood, and if my mother had ever known that I took one single dime for a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the woodshed.
Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my behavior in every thing I do, say or think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin: and , if todays children had this kind of drug problem, America would be a better place!
GOD BLESS THE PARENTS THAT DRUGGED US!

Spanking a child is illegal ! What a f"""ing joke!
Time out kids taking guns to school and killing teachers/principles.
In reality parent have no power over there kids only the dilution of thinking so.
Sad world we live in at times.
And I do remember a couple of mouthwashings, although I don't remember why I got them. (too young)
To this day at 50 years old, I still call adults Mr. or Mrs./Ms.

And I don't care what the laws are today.
I Drug my 3 teenagers everyday, and I don't care what other people think.
We'll see who's kids are where in 15 years.

Nevada was a great place to live....I miss it. Yes I even miss the sound of slot machines in the local grocery store. I could take or leave the cat houses..lol
And if you have no idea what I'm talking about there, well, then, God bless you, you're much too young to appreciate how bad we had it when traveling back in the 70's...

No harm has come to my kids from being raised in a similar way to this!!
I was a tough love kind of mother!
Only had to whip a couple of times but there was always consequenes for their actions.
I believe disapline (cant spell) begins when they are born.
You teach your kids how to treat you and others.
My kids are grown now, they are very respectful of their elders.
They are fine citizens.
I live in Indiana, you are allowed to spank your kids on the bottoms but cant leave any marks.
A spanking doesnt hurt a child when they know they have done something harmful to themselves or others.
Too many kids feel they are entitled, and can be disrespectful to others to get their way.
I find consistantly parenting is key.

We were three kids stuck in the back seat of a Toyota corolla, traveling to AZ from CO. We would fight with our elbows, of course.
Once Dad pulled over and told us get out and get some exercise, and we would run behind the car, as soon as we got there, he sped it up. I know it sounds mean, but it got us out of our heads, and we were good for the next few hours!

My mom would always say ' Don't make me stop this car and backhand you'. She did stop and start swinging a few times but we realized she couldn't reach us in that huge pontiac, so we kept on with the fighting and nudging.
We put her through a lot :(
