i was with an addict for 4.5 years and unfortunately i was schooled quickly on what that means... 2 years later i still have "flashbacks" of sorts. it is something that can only be understood if you have walked in those shoes, which of course is soemthing you wouldn't wish on anyone.
i am sorry.. i can only imagine with kids involved. but you did the right thing. it is what it is... he is the dad and he is an addict.
i hear you and i can appreciate what you have to say.
again, hugs.
I know you have enough love for your son to make up for his dad's lack of care... so he's still a lucky kid. :)
(((((((((((((((Namaste)))))))))))))))
I FEAR so badly for his safety while he is with him...and the legal system bites...
Its scary....really really scary. :(
Im SO grateful my son is home...and know I need to focus on that...
I hope we dont have to go through this again...its killing me...
Namaste....
hang in there he is slowing crashing. you will have to keep your head in the interim.
Does your son know what signs to look for when his dad is on drugs? I'm just asking because your son may have to advocate for himself while there, as in saying, "No, Dad. I won't ride in the car with you."
If there is any silver lining in this, it is your ex doesn't seem to spend much time with your son. That can be a blessing in this case.
Sending hugs!
