I joined this site/support group per my therapist's instruction and I'm not sure how this works...but here it goes:
I was a loyal and faithful military wife for the past 13 years. Exhusband has been overseas for the greater part of the last three years, and upon his latest return a month ago, he simply stated that he is done with this marriage and is moving on...then he got on the plane and left.
I am absolutely devastated. We have 7 children living in our home; both biological and adopted, and I've been raising them and working three jobs while he's been gone. I did everything in my power to be a great mom and a good wife. We just had a house built that me and the kids moved into in January. We were just waiting on dad to come home so we could be complete...
Each day I go through periods of such overwhelming grief that it knocks the air clear out of me. It's the type of pain that drops you to your knees. I sob uncontrollably. I feel like I have no one to talk to and I seem to float somewhere between agony, rage, and disbelief. My therapist said I'm grieving...
How long does this last? How do people bounce back from this type of grief? What do you do to get yourself back together? How do you look at your children and explain that daddy doesn't want mommy anymore and we won't know when we will see him or hear from him? Our marriage was by no means perfect, but never would I have guessed it would come crashing down like this...

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
Maybe they have financial help, medical, support groups, etc.
I'm so sorry he did this. You had nothing to do with this! He made his bed, and he can lie in it. As said above, get a divorce attorney right away. Your ex will have to pay you spousal support and child support. Don't let him off the hook! Get mad, not sad. What he did is wrong, and he can't just walk away like this with no regard for you or your kids. Go see an attorney. You will feel better once you see one.
You are going to be okay. Take actions now (VA help, attorney, etc), as actions will help you to feel better and to feel more in control of your life. Don't take any of this personally. You did nothing wrong. He has made a bad choice, but we can't control what other people do. But you can control what you do. Get that professional help.
