My ex and I ended it a couple of weeks ago. Since then i've started dating a good friend of mine that i've known for almost a year. He's a great guy and things couldn't be going better.

But for some reason I cant' get my ex out of my head. I want to send him a message so bad just to see how he's doing. He stopped by not too long ago to pick up mail, and it breaks my heart everytime I see him. I don't know if I am just going through the mourning process or if I actually do still have strong feelings for him. I'm trying to stop myself from sending him a message, he still wants to be friends but out of respect for my new man i'm afraid to keep in contact. I have yet to throw out our photos and letters that he had sent me, part of me doesn't want to let go.

What ended your marriage? Violence? Infidelity? Drug/Alcohol? Or just grew apart??? I can't help if you don't give a little more of a glimpse but based on your little bit, I would say that you jumped into a new relationship without giving yourself enough time to heal. Does this new/old flame deserve a part of you?

well this isn't the man i'm divorced from. i couldn't be more happy to be over my ex husband though he harasses me still and that makes me not want to trust men at all. my recent ex(whom i wasn't married to) is also divorced so we both had some trust issues. we lived very different lifestyles and he ended up getting arrested and going to jail. when he got out on bail and came home i didn't feel the same way about him, sadly to say i almost felt disappointed in him. he put us in a huge financial strain and wouldn't take responsibility. not to say that i wasn't cause for problems in the relationship. the new/old flame now deserves to have someone that is all there, not partly. i still feel like my heart is healing but we had something very special, and we found we still do. i don't want to give up something that could actually lead to something wonderful over someone that i shouldn't be missing. thanks for replying also.

If there is promise with the new/old flame, then it can withstand the test of time. He does deserve a whole person as much as you. So, I would get over the ex with the police record, purge the old feelings, seek counseling if needed and then.....bring something to the table...a stronger you. If it is meant to be, let it be a healthy union and not a fragmented one.
