Sometimes, when I am sitting on my own, my brain suddenly triggers a memory of a happy moment in my marriage. Its like a bloody game my brain plays with me.
Then I consciously remind myself -with the help of the same brain--the way things unfolded...the way I overheard him saying "I am already missing you" to the OW over the phone, once she had left after her husband and us socializing a lot together. Then the lies, the blame for what a horrible person I've been over the phone...and finally after 4 years , of separation, finding out that the same woman and he had been continuing their relationship. I remember the way he would say, when we would meet at times during the separation , that we have sex 'one last time' (and i would still not suspect/undertand...duh!!).. that 'one last time' happened 2-3 times even while he was in love with this woman. Maybe he did this so i wouldnt suspect anything...was so dumb, i wouldnt have suspected anything of this sort anyways ! I just believed his blaming game.
When my brain suddenly comes up with some happy memory of the past, I go through this same drill of reminding myself of the pain, the lies, the betrayal.
Many times I feel like i have recovered almost completely, but such memory flash backs make me realise that I perhaps haven't. Yeeesh !

but he left me and I didn't know we had bad stuff, or at least to me it was just life not a reason to end the marriage ...
@additi I get flashbacks all the time, being the first xmas alone, it was hard to set up the tree, put up the lights etc because it would have been a family thing and now a major part of our family is gone
