I pulled into my slip today at 12:30 this afternoon. I was lucky that I made an early start at 6:30 this morning because the wind decided to switch back to the North West and come up 15-20 knots when I was 6 miles from home. I was heading North West to get home so I didn't have to go upwind too far.
I ended up having a few strange situations and I got beat to quarters one time. The wind dropped off, I was only making one knot in the good, and the tide was ripping me towards a Navigation marker. I had to relieve the autopilot and head up as high as possible. I finally got past the marker and the wind picked up for a while. I also had to shake a reef in the main, shake it out, roll the jib in part way once, and release it out once. I had a busy day.
Yesterday I fought some bad conditions for 5 hours. 30 knots of wind out of the North West with 4-5 foot waves. I took blue water over the bow several times and it was not a fun time.
This season has been interesting because I have sailed more times under a reefed main and partly rolled jib than ever before. I have been in some rough conditions lately.
All in all the weekend was a good one. The fireworks were awesome, I got to meet a few DSers who were awesome, and the festival was cool also.
I am exhausted today. I have to go back to work tomorrow but no worries, I am taking off on Friday for 7 days outwater.

Glad you made it home safely, sorry about how much work you had to put in to get there.

Jealous! Spent the last two weekends trying to get my friends outboard going so we can sailing! Think water got into the tank over winter. We may have it running soon so we can get out on the water and enjoy some summer sailing! She sailed for years before her divorce and got the bost in the settlement.
