Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Included in that, are members of my EX's family. I have to deal with the ex MIL cause I have a kid, but I am sooooo happy not to talk to, look at, or do anything with his sister. She is incredibly negative and enjoys instigating drama.
So, really think about who these people are. It's tough YOUR divorce devastated them, but true friends are there to help you when you fall; not just to be there when things are rosy and pretty.
I have 13 siblings, 12 living. And the siblings, like people I 'thought' were friends. After the initial talk. They just didn't call, if I did I would leave a msg and not get a call back. I have 3 siblings that contact me and 4 friends. That's it.
But you are strong and can do without them. I read your posts and you are strong and helpful.
I wouldn't give them the time of day. Don't waste your energy on them. If they couldn't hang during the bad, then you don't need them for the good.
Just my opinion.
My STBXW and I had 64 mutual Facebook friends - I dropped a few of "her" family and she dropped a few of "my" family - this took us down to 52.
The remaining 52 mutual friends were truly that real life mutual friends.
Were now down to 18 FB "mutual friends" - it appears whenever someone disagrees or questions her (to include some of her own family) she unfriends them, drops them from her life and they never hear from her again. If someone were to defend me then she does the same but then publicly insults, and defames them on FB.
I have informed all remaining "mutual friends" to please let it go, more on and provide only support because I know she is hurting - just not sure how.
Some of "her" friends are still mine on FB but they wont talk to me because she painted a horrific picture of me or they don't want to get in the middle.
understandable, I will remember that, respect that and confront it when I'm in a better place.
Note: MY STBXW no longer talks to her parents because they questioned why, but they have "adopted" me.
I've actually heard that, from one gal, as an excuse! Can you believe it? But for the most part: it just tells me that they didn't consider me valuable to keep in touch, and if that's the case, ya just got to accept it.
People are funny, and are creatures of habits. If ya guys hung around as couples, their mind is a bit too structured to stray beyond the envelope and see ya as a single. Sad, but true!
Well, my son only has one family, but I can make new friends. I have spent the past year working on myself so that I can be open to making new friends. It has been kindof nice to not have to concentrate on anyone but healing my son and me.
