Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.

My mom is divorcing my stepdad because he's emotionally abusive, has anger issues, and has been cheating on her this whole time. He has also lied about himself and is fake and emotionally messed up. Psychopath according to his friend/work partner. My mom moved back in with my grandparents and I. She was living before in an apartment with this man, while I chose to remain with my grandparents, where we lived after my mom divorced my dad. Now that my mom is learning from her poor life screwups and financial problems, I see how disgusting men are to her and easily try getting with her, after finding out she's getting a divorce. A school friend of hers is practically dating her, the way he acts and I feel horrible because I dont want to see my mom with anymore men, or even this guy. It makes me sick after all the horrible people she let destroy her life and never realized they would. And I hate seeing these assholes demonstrating the "shitty stepdad" figure in our lives. Am I wrong for not wanting my mom to find another man after all this and being afraid for her, thinking she will not pick a good man ever? She said herself she's not gonna look for a man butttt we'll see with this friend of hers.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

I have been divorced for 10 years and my kids met only 2 of my boyfriends.
My mother also had a never ending string of shitty men.
The only thing it will do is drive the kids out of the house prematurely.
You may want to tell her that.. she is hurting for whatever reason, but you are more important than men.
Having said that, that's where your role in it ends. Your mom is an adult and your the "child." At 19 you're not actually a child, but your her son and she's the parent and you don't get to tell her what she can or can't do, or who she can or can't date.
Sounds like your mom has some "issues" she needs to work about herself, there's a reason she goes with guys who don't treat her well, and there's a reason she can't seem to be alone with herself. But that's something she needs to explore and figure out....you can't do that for her.
At 19 your an adult and don't have to put up with the "stepdad role." What you might do is calmly in conversation just ask your mom, "Mom do you ever think of why you go towards these guys who don't treat you well, or why you can't seem to stay away from guys for a while? Have you ever thought about seeing a Therapist or someone to work it out?"
That you can do....and she might listen or she might blow it off.....but it will plant a seed.
Take care,
Kat
