I was thinking about some things from my past marriage and I came to an interesting conclusion about some things.
My ex said that I didn't like her going out with her friends and that she didn't like it that I always wanted to know where she was.
The reason that I wanted to know where she was going was that if I needed to contact her I could (I have already had 1 heart attack and I could be hurt in the line of duty at any time).
I just discovered that I really didn't have a problem with her going out at all or where she would go. I had a problem with the way she communicated. I would always tell her where I was going, when I got there, and when I left. She never did that.
The girl that I have a date with on Tuesday has been goig all over the place this weekend. She always calls or texts me before and after she is there just to talk and I absolutely love that. It is cool to get that kind of attention from someone and that is what I always wanted in my marriage!

I even used to sneak in the back at work and call her on her days off just to hear her voice and to tell her I miss her. I always called her before I did anything...and she did the same. Then she gradually stopped doing it later down the line. I hated that. It really made me feel she was either losing interest in me or just didn't care anymore.
But I really do love having an attentive relationship like that..because I am very attentive in a relationship.
Now on the flip side, whenever I went somewhere and didn't call him, he bugged the crap outta me if I didn't check in. Double standard freak.
