Well folks, it truly was an independence day for me this past weekend. After dragging it out for the last year and a half, finally got into court on July 2nd and divorce granted. What should have taken 10 minutes, took 45, because the agreement her lawyer sent to mine, he never discussed with her until that morning. Sheesh. All that was left, was debt division, which she didn't think she should get, of course, but she still got a lot less of it than she could have been given if we had gone to court for trial, and that was my choice to do that for her. Needless to say, she was not happy, but what about divorce is ever happy? She had her family there for support, which I expected, and I am glad she did. Like I have always said, I do not hate her, or want anything bad to happen to her. I still love her, regardless of all that has happened, and I always will. She just has her issues to overcome and I pray for her to be able to do that daily.

I pray for her to find peace and forgiveness in her life. She has carried so much anger and resentment around for so long, from way before we even met, that it is starting to poison her soul. Yes, I knew it was there when we were dating, but I always hoped that we could overcome it together. I was wrong. She said she hoped that I would die soon, and that she wished we had never met. I am not hurt by those words, because I know the pain behind them, and that she is just lashing out. She is allowed to.

I am in a pretty good spot myself, grieving the loss of all the hopes and dreams we had for the future, but knowing that somewhere down the road, God will make it clear to me as to why it all happened the way it did. I am not on the dating scene, like she is, trying to find that person to make the hurt go away, because it is too soon, and any relationship would be a doomed waste of time. I have my friends to keep me grounded and focused, and that is all I need right now. Getting back to the person I was before all this happened is what I am trying to do, but it is going to take time, lots of time.

I wish her love, peace, and happiness. I pray that she can give all the anger and resentments up to God, and that she finds the hope and dreams we had, with the person she is meant to be with. As for me, I will continue my journey through this life, as I always have; with eyes that always see the best in people, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad, and a soul that never loses faith in God.
