Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
And once it does come down to one of you moving out it will not only be harder on you but for your kids as well....
Best of luck and hope it helps at least a little.
I think you will know when to move on, you know what is right and being friends with him and making this situation you are in work clearly works for you.
I can see also how things could start to get weird and confusing for the kids, you will know listen to your heart on that one and at least start planning a move, this can't go on forever.
I'm confused as to why you would post this here for feedback and then say "you refuse to see"... You didn't want feedback, you wanted to be validated. Why do I get the feeling your therapist has more insight into you, your personality and your motivations and has just cause to recommend a split?
And I agree that this is some fantasy.
I'm not as sure about the saying "I love you" thing since you are divorcing. That may cause some confusion for a child.
My daughter (almost 5) doesn't understand much about what is going on, though she does know that she and I are getting a new apartment and it will be just her and I. She has not asked where daddy is going yet. I don't think that will occur to her until the actual move happens.
At present her dad and I live together and we get along for the most part. He keeps trying to push back my move out date, trying to guilt me into staying longer than April 15th, but I've told him that when I move depends on my ability to get my friends to help not on his twisted need to keep me around.
I however, can't separate the emotions like you seem to be able to do. I am functioning and taking each day as it comes, making the best of it. But I also realize that, even though I'm accepting our inevitable divorce, when our physical separation happens, the "realness" of our permanent end will set it and it will hurt like hell. Even if you both still love each other as friends and care about one another, you too may encounter this sad part of the process. And if you do, I hope you'll come back here for support. That's what this board is all about.... I wish you nothing but a peaceful divorce and much happiness afterward for you and your family.
I also see little harm in it, seeing at it's temporary.
Just.As.Long.As.It.Is.Temporary!
I have seen a few get caught in this very trap and have what seems like long term damage to themselves and their relationships with their children. "there just isn't a good time financially"
It's a big jump, just make sure you can actually do it when the time comes.
I for one am just glad it's not ME living with you.
I was also diagnosed with PTSD over ten years ago, and you seem to have some additional issues. How's that for feedback.
