I don't ever, ever, ever know how I am going to go through my life without being intimate with my husband if I go through with divorcing him. I can't stand the thought of it. I am also not promiscus and would never consider a one night stand or friends with benefits. We have only been intimate 5 times over a 5 month period which I would say is a miracle. I turned him down several times also.
I want him so badly I can't stand it. I need to get over this b/c I don't want to feel this way.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

As far as the intimacy with someone else goes, you can work on that in your future. Sometimes loving someone is just not enough. You can not change someone. You can not make them give up the drugs. The roads of life are littered by those mates who thought they could change their partners, spouses, etc. I am sorry you are in this situation but, you are going to have to decide what you want in life. You say you have separated before. If he comes back, what will change? Don't set yourself up for more hurt. If he won't get help, you can not help him.
As for the sex, I am pretty sure I won't fall pray to it again or at least not until he has gone to rehab and I decide if I want to be with him.
Thank you so much for posting.
Give it time - the desire is strong now but will subside - trust me. You seem like you are making a good decision for you. Stay the course.
I am also not a "friends with benefits" person, so it was difficult for me. You just find ways to work through it.
Eventually, when you have healed and are ready to date again, you will likely find someone with whom you will want to be intimate.
Sending hugs.
Anyway, I hear what you say bout find intimacy again but I also feel God does not want me to until I marry again but I do not know if and when that will be. Listen to me, the woman who was unfaithful x 2 saying this. I actually have always felt this way and tried to abstain throughout my life but found myself doing it.
It just feels really weird, it has been 6 weeks since we were intimate.
