I know what you are going thru, as my wife left me after 17 yrs of marriage. I am having a very difficult time dealing with it. They say time will heal all wounds, but the pain of heartache is tuff to deal with. Hang in there though, I am sure it will get better for both of us. We are just in the early stages.

Hi Eliza, I’ m going through the same. I just moved my wife into her new house and i’m really having a hard time either when i’m with my kids (trying to put on a good face), without my kids.... feeling alone and at work, where i’m “the boss” trying to put on a face here as well. I’m exhausted and really down. I also need someone to talk to as I go through this.

After being together for 13 years, this is a hard thing to go through. It is never easy to face marital problems and deal with the pain and wounds that have been inflicted. I can only imagine the range of emotions you are experiencing right now. Marriages become distressed for a variety of reasons. I was wondering if you have tried counseling. Maybe it would help to talk to and sort out the details with a professional? Do you have anyone you trust to talk with? Sending you love and hugs today.

trulycommitted -Yes I'm thinking of returning to counseling. I started counseling last year to sort out some of my codependent issues. I've reached out to my friends and they have been very supportive. Thank you for asking. I'm taking day by day, being present as much as I can.

I’ve reached out to counseling as well. I have a pretty stressful job and feel like I always have to be “on”. It’s exhausting. Some days I just don’t know if I’ll be able to make it. People are used to seeing me a certain way and I feel like everyone’s noticing and wondering what’s wrong with me. I have a big presentation tomorrow and i’m really scared. I used to love my job, now I just feel resentful.

...I worked and sacrificed a lot to move up so my wife could stay home with the kids and i feel as though I let a number of friendships go by the “wayside”. I feel odd reaching out to them now.

DSJ295077 -I felt odd reaching out to some old friends too and I pushed myself to text them or invite them to coffee or breakfast/dinner. You never know that what they will say. Push yourself to reach out. It doesn't have to be a constant discussion on marriage or there lack of. Use the time to maybe relive good memories with your friends.

I totally understand how you feel. I was caught off guard when my husband told me he didn't love me anymore, that was almost 4 years ago. I celebrated out 10th anniversary on 7/31 and our divorce was finalized Aug 1st. Go figure lol.
I will tell you it is hard in the beginning and the natural instinct is to think we did something wrong. Whatever you do, do not blame yourself. You deserve to have your needs and wants fulfilled.

Take this time to fully understand who you are and what you really want before stepping into the next relationship and don't compromise on the big ticket items like kids.

As disheartening as this may be, it is still an opportunity for something new and exciting that will be just for you.

I’m sorry to hear about your divorce. I believe you can pull through this tough time. I think being in this group can be a big help. I’m going through a breakup myself of 1 year. So just know I’m pulling for you, and I hope you can move through the process quickly.
