Student -Mother of a 7 yr. old and 5 yr. old. Currently going through a divorce.
Losing my mind trying to raise my 2 kids in a city I don't know anything about; or, know anyone else besides my soon to be ex husband. I was verbally and physically abused everyday; so, I left with my kids and we are now living in a homeless shelter. Things are getting better, I'm going to school, attending internship programs (can't wait to start working) have both of my kids with me and I'm being strong for them but, I feel like I'm losing my sanity and my anxiety's getting worse because I don't like to talk to my family and friends about my issues. They don't even know my kids and I are in this situation and homeless. What should I do? Also he's trying to tell me he doesn't want divorce because he loves me and still cares for me but, I feel like he's trying to manipulate me out of it because he doesn't want to pay: child support, alimony and also wants to keep me and my kids as dependents to collect v.a benefits. I feel so numb, I can't sleep at night nor able to focus in school.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

I can understand the stress and the anxiety but it's only going to be temporary because you are on a good path with school and all.
I don't know your family...but as a father, if my daughter said she was in a homeless shelter I would help her no matter what the situation is between us. So maybe think of reaching out to them. They are family. Yes, everyone has their own problems but that's what family is for. I don't like talking issues with them either but I do if it's major.
Just something to think on! Continue to ignore him and move on. Maybe she a pro-bono lawyer to help.
