My friend's 8 year old son had a black labrador called Paddy. One night Paddy got sick, but my friend decided not to mention it to her son, she just put him to bed and she and hubby sat up all night, nursing Paddy, praying he would get better. Unfortunately the inevitable happended and Paddy died. Dad took the dead dog with him when he left for work. Mum, decided that she would need to tell son what happened. She got him out of bed and she said "Son, Im really sorry, but paddy fot really sick during the night and Jesus decided to take him away. Now dont worry, cos if you want we can get another Paddy" "Ok" said son and went off to school happily. Of course Mum was surprised but happy with sons response.
At 3pm, she picks son up from school and takes him home. Son runs around the house calling out his dogs name. Mum softly takes sons hand and explains to him that the dog is dead. Son starts to cry, uncontrollably. "But I told you already, this morning before you left for school! said mum. To which the son replied "Paddy? I thought you said Daddy"...
