Miranda - his family is enabling him too. Especially his sister. She actually came into my workplace one evening (my part time, second job) and got into it with me at work. I can't remember a time I've been so angry. I kept trying to disengage - it wasn't appropriate for many reasons. I ended up clarifying to her the next morning that I will not tolerate anything like that ever happening again and that I will *never* discuss my relationship with her brother, with her again.
That we a tearful night.. For they are my family too.
And yes, the al-anon theory is great in theory, but extremely challenging in practice. I'm able to understand the "sickness" and I have a very solid understanding of how addiction works -and it's simply not an excuse. You still have to be accountable for your actions regardless of how you got there. Addiction does not absolve responsibility.
Not agree more. I believed in my husband he has been dry
For 30 years, no relapses. I think his addictive personality
Started gathering strength and he hid it from me, he went
To his mother to complain about me and she validated him.
It was not her, him, his upbringing or alcoholism. His mother
Is full of the isms of the disease. After checking out and being
Mean he got into FB then looking at porn then he found some
Girls from AA he got real friendly with, he was just helping them.

All the best to all. ❤️
He will feel screwed over no matter what I do, because he's happily playing victim.. (Which is just ridiculous) .. But I have been fair for the last 4 months and I will continue to be.
He's fortunate that I'm reasonable.
Thank you again for the reminder, sometimes hurt and anger just take hold and all you want to is lash out. Ultimately, however, it's just not my style.
They are your guide during this time looking out
For your financial and long term well being. HUGS
