Someone I know from a past Police Department that I worked for was shot today. He was shot 5 times, at home, by his estranged wife. Last I heard he is in serious condition at UVA Hospital but it doesn't sound good for him.
There is some scuttlebutt going around about the incident, but I will say this. The guy was a good person and a good Cop. It is ashame that you aren't even safe in your own home.
My prayers go out for him tonight. I hope that he makes it as this is a real bad thing. This person has given years of his life in service to the Citizens of this country and now he must fight for his life. God be with him!

Update. She has been arrested and he is still alive. My fingers are crossed for him.
Just one thing about what you said. Everyone from work would say that my ex was/is a good person too. Unless you'd seen him drunk and out of control, you'd never guess that he could be like that. Being a good person at work...has nothing to do with what you're like in your own home.
Of course, considering the circumstances, it's even more likely that SHE's the one who had anger issues. And that SHE's the one that no one really knew.
I wish him a speedy recovery.
One thing that I have heard that may be rumor is that they were separated because he had an affair. Where that is totally possible in this day in age I don't know for sure so I don't wish to speculate there.
I will say that it seems that there is more and more infidelity in the world today. It is sad and I have no tolerance for this. People need to stick to their promises more and adhere to their vows.
Just because someone cheats it doesn't make them a bad person and it doesn't give another person the right to shoot them. Hate the behavior, not the person. I would strongly disapprove of this behavior in anyone.
Still, in the end I am praying that he makes it through this. He was a fair and honest person and the same as a Law Enforcement Official. His investigations were clean and done well. He worked with citizens and improved police/citizen relationships.
And as much as I initially thought about shooting my ex, or have joked about it at times, it's not justified.
Patti22..You are exactly right! That place I worked out was a rumor mill anyway.
He may have cheated and gets shot.
His wife believed the rumor and is going to prison.
