So I am entering my middle life, a time where I don't have a clear view of what the future might bring. Hence some people call it a crisis, I guess. I know I am not a solitary person, and would like to have a mate for life. Last girlfriend was everything I could have wanted... except her idea of a relationship consists of spending "95% of our time together", and "we are only supposed to have mutual friends". So when she didn't mesh with my inner circle, there was a lot of pressure on me, to make peace, to make everyone happy. I asked her to avoid some of the social events, which caused great dissatisfaction on her part.
I found myself in the position of seeking new employment, and landed a great opportunity in Texas. I didn't feel it was much of a choice - between unemployment and building new skill sets and advance my career. That of course was construed as choosing my job over girlfriend. I was really hoping that being away from everything would allow us to build our relationship without other "distractions", albeit the long distance. But things didn't get better, because she was having a breakdown... I asked my best friend to console her, they have always gotten along. Maybe a little too much... I was surprised and shocked to find out they were dating when I went home for Thanksgiving. It had been 5 weeks since I talked to her before my trip, I thought giving it a little time and separation would be good for us. I did talk to her, and she said she had completely moved on. So that's that.. I guess.
Sad....
