Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I guess it shouldn't be a shock that so many people have affairs with co-workers, given the amount of time spent during the day with them, but it doesn't make it any easier to take. I would think companies wouldn't want to allow that kind of stuff to go on but most of them are afraid to actually take action against anyone for fear of getting sued for wrongful termination.
Policies forbidding really are meaningless, what's a company policy when you've made a personal vow? Break one, break 'em all, it matters not.
Sorry Karen, you hit a sore spot with me today....AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
Now, my ex was my boss and although we weren't breaking any policies, we did see it as a conflict of interest due to positions we held. We dated in secret and married in secret and had his child in secret but, as soon as I came back from maternity leave, I sought other employment. It was the right thing to do.
Now, I have dealt with the nature of cheating spouses in the workplace and it does get so messy as some of the wives/husbands that were wronged, calls us to help them. We cannot.
So....it is not a good idea no matter what the situation is.
IMO, work has become a hook-up place. Woman can observe men closely in a neutral, non-dating setting. They get to make a mind connection with a man that goes beyond the physical. That creates "knowns" about a person. The selection process at the office is better than the selection process at the bars.
The large office setting, with nearly 50% woman and with a decline in morals has become a meat market in some respects, IMO. Some woman push dress codes to the limit by wearing outfits from Ho's R' Us.
I observe in my present place of work HR memos warning that summer is coming and to dress "sensibly". What PC bullshit. They mean dress like your are going to work and not to a bar to hook up for a one night stand.
Men are guilty for their part in responding to the view. Some give positive affirmation to those wearing the revealing outfits with a flirting frenzy.
