Have you tried discussing it with her? Or mentioning counseling? If she is not willing to try... there may be your answer. Hugs.
Most peoples personalities are pretty fixed. If they want to change it has to be from their own desires to change. No amount of prodding on our part will make this happen.
Sending you light, love, and hope!
Thank you everyone else for your comments.
I don’t know where our relationship is going. 50% of the time I feel we are fine, the other 50% of the time, I feel we should divorce and move on with our lives. I always feel I am blamed for something or am always wrong about something, and so I am always apologizing to make up, even if I didn’t do anything wrong. Yet I feel if she does multiple things and doesn’t apologize, I feel like I’m thrown under the bus, and will have to move on with regrets.
They have an uncanny ability to make us doubt ourselves and the process is slow and as the years add on...we look back and think...what the hell happened to me? I can't make decisions, why am I doubting myself, why is everything my fault.
These types of relationships always end up making us feel like the crazy ones. The partners of these individuals always end up seeking help thinking they are the problems, get medicated, lose their identity, and become too weak to leave because by now the narc has them conditioned and convinced they can't do any better.
I'm not saying this is your scenario...but perhaps you can read up on narcisstic abuse symptoms or relationships.
I would read up on emotional abuse as well. Don't be ashamed of it. It actually is more widespread and accepted in relationships that we realize and recognize.
