Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
The hardest part for me has been the discipline....my daughter is much more scared of her dad than of me, and I have trouble getting her to listen to me without being able to say, "Wait 'til your father gets home."
My counselor says kids are adaptable....and, like many people on here have stated before, Dr. Phil says, "It's better to be FROM a broken home than IN one."
Hang in there....love them, that's all you can do. ; )
My 18 yr. old son is so happy he can't stand it. He was so ready to leave there. He holds alot of anger towards my stbx though because he's fully aware of why we had to move. His relationship with the stbx has become almost nil.
Yes, it still breaks me up thinking that our home is now 'broken' but I know I have to get past that, and that this reality is truly a better life for them.
Talk to someone.
I know the way we lived before was not healthy by any means. However when my oldest asks me why daddy doesn't love you anymore and why we don't we live in our old house, those questions just break my heart. I hate that the innocent victims in this mess have to pay the highest price.
Doesn't hurt for them to see a counselor, talk to them, tell them all the time they are loved and this wasn't there fault.
Take care...
If my son sees me sad now (divorcing again!) he gets really anxious until I explain the why. Then he says "Oh, you're just sad about Carlos, OK!", and he's fine.
The one thing that got him depressed was when his dad went to live in Spain and would hardly ever call him. He missed him. That was the only really bad part for him.
I had to tell him that, life isnt fair to all of us and that no matter what... I was going to be his mom and dad, and that I would never leave his side... He cried a little more and looked at me and was like "ok"... I know its hard for him because a boy needs a dad... But as long as youre there for your girls, they should be ok.
How often do you see your girls? When you do, just remind them that you love them very much and that you will always be there for them (and give them a ton of hugs(.
