I was in a nearly 6 year relationship with someone that I knew I could spend the rest of my life with.
When we started dating, we were both very independent people. He had raised his daughter on his own and I am just independent by nature. When we got together, we both appreciated each others independence, but also loved being together.
During that time, he fell on some hard times at work, with the economy and was struggling both emotionally and financially. I offered support in both ways as much as possible and he told me how special I was and how much I meant to him that he couldn't have gotten through it withought me.
He became very distant, I was figuring due to his emotional status and we didn't see each other (but still talked on the phone) for 6 weeks. I decided that I would let him take time to focus on him, because my dissapointment in not seeing him as often as I would like would only offer more stress to him. It was rough, but we got over it.
6 months later, we ended up getting back together, which he initiatied. I figured he finally was in a place where he knew what he wanted and that was to be with me. We have been together ever since, until 7 weeks ago.
That was when my life turned updsidedown in a matter of minutes. I went to friend his daughter on facebook and saw a post of a woman that I didn't recognize. He is not on facebook anymore and deleted his account about 2 years ago.
That being said, I clicked on her profile and saw the two of them, arm in arm during their WEDDING! He married her nearly 2 years ago. I had no clue. I knew of her, I knew of her as a woman he was previously involved with, but still stayed in contact because he really felt he was a father figure to her kids.
He married her. He gave her everything I wanted from him. He knew where I was at and what I wanted, but never could tell me that I was not the one he wanted forever with. So for the past 2 years almost, he has been flying there (she is in a different state), she has been coming here, came for his mothers funeral (which is why he left me sitting on the sofa and wouldn't tell me when the service was), and he was with me, at my house, frequently. Making plans together.
I asked him twice to move in with me, and the first time he asked me how soon it would be before I wanted a ring on my finger. I told him I didn't want a proposal or marriage yet, but I did want to take the relationship to the next step. He said he would think about it.
I took him out of the country for a surprise milestone birthday trip. This was 4 months after he married her. The day before his marriage, he sent me a text message and said he was going to be distant for a few days because he has some emotional stuff he was dealing with. He told me he loved me and thanked me for being a part of his turbulent life. yeah, he married her the next day. In a shirt I bought for him no less.
When I approached him via text as I thought he would be in bed already, he replied about an hour later and said that he had a major lapse in judgement, they were in process to dissolve the marriage, his apologies and goodbyes. That was it.
Of course I didn't accept that, so I responded and we conversed a bit the next day. After some gut wrenching discussion in which he committed to telling me everything, he never called back, never responded. Just tossed me aside like I am garbage, and I am so hurt. He knew what I had been through with my parents and my exhusband, but what he did was much worse than that. He made me the other woman, when I didn't even have a clue. I want to tell her, but I also fear for my safety. I just can't believe someone could be so calculating and evil.
I have lost everything, my future, my best friend, my lover, thousands of dollars, and also ended up with an STI. The man I loved was not real, but my love for him was. I just can't shake this. I am still in disbelief as to how someone in a committed relationship would marry someone else behind their back and keep it up for nearly 2 years. All the false promises he made. All the "love" and intamcy that we shared was all a lie. I am disgusted.

Sorry you lost so much. You did not deserve that.
I am just taking it one day at a time. I am still so shocked that anyone could do that to another human being. I feel for his wife as well, and his daughter. I mean really.
Everything was a lie from the beginning so I could never tell if he was lying or not. How deceitful can someone be? Evil, that's all I can say :(
you look in the mirror and see your flaws that you want to soften for those you love
people like your boyfriend look in the mirror and can only if they look good to themselves and if not they fix it by using those that trust them them most because they are the easiest to manipulate
i sorry for where you are right now, i have an idea of how you feel, the mother of my kids is a user of people
there is no change to your worth, correction, in time you'll be worth more, you'll have even more gentleness to give because you'll understand how brutal some people can be
take care, talk to a lawyer, see if you can recover any funds or sue him for medical treatment of the std
I'm sorry that you have been in a relationship of someone of this nature. There are so many people (friends of mine) that just don't understand where I am coming from.
At least I am to the point where I am okay 1 or 2 days, but then all the emotions coming flooding back to me and have anger, hatred, disgust, hurt, betrayal and sadness going through my head at once. Ugh... It's truly sad that there are people like this in the world.
So sorry for the hurt youre feeling, hope you find the strength to move on,he relly, really isnt worth it.
I am still just astonished at the whole situation. I guess I can never understand because unlike him, I understand and exhibit empathy. I would never ever even think of being so evil and manipulative.
It just sucks!
