My wife cheated on me with my cousin. She has bipolar and is an alcoholic. Despite everything, i still love her.
I took the initiative to rebuild myself. We separated in November. I went back to school, lost 30 pounds, reconnected with my friends, see my counselor regularly (who tells me I am doing everything right).
I was doing well until about a week ago. I was practicing NC and was fine and stable. Then I broke down.
I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it will take time. I have done everything right, and I still love her. Want to take her back and fix things.
Sometimes the only thing you can fix is yourself.
He's addicted, like my wife. Until they come to the realization that their addiction is the problem (not us), they will suffer worse than us. We will recover. They won't without serious help and typically, they don't seek that help until something truly tragic happens. Unfortunately the breakup of a relationship, usually isn't it.
The best (and really only) thing you can do is to take care of yourself. Heal yourself and if he comes to his sense later, fine. If not, then (if you have really tried to take care of yourself), you will be fine and move on with your life.
Believe me, we all hurt and know what it is like. Everyone here will tell you from experience, that the best thing you can do is not to focus on him, but on yourself.
You are not alone.
it was about 2-3 weeks b4 i broke up with her she started hanging out with this girl from work. and ever since then she started acting shady, lying to me i know cause ive caught her. she like did a 180 and just changed and started treating me like crap. wouldnt answer my calls, talk tom e, text me back, ignore me.
and i didnt catch her cheating on me.
to this day i still dont know why she did it. i never did anything wrong or bad to her. whaht hurt the most is that she did to me what she knew i would never ever do to her, which is why it hurt so much. i was devastated
but im glad i found out what kind of person she really was b4 it got any further down the road. im much better off without a person like that in my life. she F'd up, she knows she did and she wont find another guy to treat her how i did, put up with her stuff and get along with her family.
some people just dont realize what they have until they mess t up
Are you saying that the 'drugs, lying and stealing' weren't enough? To my mind, those things should have been enough to walk away. It sounds like you could pardon those things and they were acceptable UNTIL the cheating. Indeed, I'm truly sorry for your hurt, but going forward, perhaps you should set your bar of acceptable behavior a little higher. It would save you from having to endure stuff like this. Sending you comfort.
