My stbx finally called me after 9 days. He's coming over in a couple hours to get some of his things and if I can get the courage to hand them to Him, sign the divorce papers. I'm so numb. Paralyzed. We've been a part of each others lives for 18 years. I don't know how to handle this meeting. I'm scared I'm going to crumble. I want to be strong, but I know me. I'm going to see him and I'm going to melt. Sign the papers...so final, so over. So sad. It's till so unbelievable!

Sorry you are going through this!

Is there somewhere you can go while he comes by the house so you don't have to see him? You could leave him a note about the divorce papers and to please sign. If he doesn't sign then you can have them served to him. There is no reason why you need to put yourself through the additional emotional turmoil.

Be strong, just remember it is in your best interest to take this final step so you can move on with your life. like ALD said maybe you can just leave it there and go out with a friend or a family member while he is there..... Good luck hope it goes well....

I still have moments where I can't believe it. Still have times when I think it must all be a bad dream. Today I went to DMV to change my licence to my maiden name. Then I cried all the way home..and here I go again. Still cry myself to sleep. It totally sucks.

I'm so with you on this one. I was nervous all yesterday when husband was supposed to come over to talk about our future. He cancelled because he wasn't feeling well, and we're rescheduled for tomorrow. So I get to be a basket case all day again. It's so hard to see him. Brings back all the feelings from when we were living together. There's this spark of what used to be. This is such a hard road to take.

i agree, get someone else to meet him and give him the papers ,
I would remove myself , I know its hard but it is the best way
