Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I won't allow myself to be treated that way again. I did for years, but never again. So congratulations that you were able to do that for yourself, and I'm very sorry you are hurting. This is a good place for support and understanding, there are people who have been/are in it where you've been.
What I usually say to this time in your life, I've been there, is to hang in there, cry when you need to, reach out, accept that this will be one of the hardest things you will ever do, and have faith that you can make it through this even when it seems impossible, and again most importantly Don't give up and know that reaching out is okay.
Leaving him, that was the right decision. You shouldn't have to change who you are in order to be loved, that isn't being genuinely loved. You need to find someone who will love you the way you are and wants what is best for you.
You can make new friends, you can find new things that make you happy. It's hard work, it's heartbreaking soul wrenching work, but now that you have left him your choices are
A) Go back to him and be treated like crap.
B) Don't go back, but don't put in any effort to make your life better and be miserable forever
or C) Don't go back, put in the effort, try to make your life worth living and be miserable for awhile, but not forever.
There are good people out there, you never know where you'll find friends. I've found some new ones in places I didn't expect.
I personally am opting for C, yes it's hard. It is harder than I had thought it could ever be all of the years I considered doing it. But now I'm starting to think that there may actually be a light at the end of the tunnel. The work I've put in is starting to pan out. It's hard, hang in there.
It's going to be hard, but stick to your guns--you did the right thing. Even if you were to take him back, unfortunately, the relationship would never be the same because that Facebook message would always be at the back of your mind. Cut him loose and move on.
As for the friends you feel you abandoned, if they're truly your friends, which I'm sure they are, they should understand why you did what you did, and help you through this tough time. In the meantime, you do have us :)
I wound up staying for 3 1/2 more years because of kids, feeling trapped, trying to work it out, cowardice, but no matter what, no matter how well things seemed to be going that IM was always there.
He's cheating and making excuses. Why is she even on his FB is he wants nothing to do with her? Everyone makes their own choices in life. You have made the choice to leave this controlling man. Good for you!
You know, you may think that the 2 close friends you had want nothing to do with you, but you may be surprised. Contact them - tell them your sorry for allowing him to come between you. See what they say. Chances are they miss you too and would love to reconnect.
Never let a man come between you and your family and friends. It's his attempt to isolate you. keep you down, so he can manipulate you without having outside influences.
Unfriend him on FB. Lose his Phone Number and change yours. Stay away from the toxic relationship. I know it's hard, but you can do it. if you really want to.
You have come to a good place for support.
You can do better than that. It's damned hard, but you can do better. It takes work and heartbreak and sorrow and a big scary rollercoaster ride of emotions but it can be done. And KRKing is right, this is a good place for support.
