So what kind of music to do you listen too when your mood changes? I am reading a book about emotions and one of the assignments was to write down the music you listen too when you are in whatever type of mood. So I started looking through my I pod today and I have some major emotional issues. From Elton John and Billy Joel to Ozzy and Metal Church and from that to Joni Mitchell and Jon Mayer. Some rap stuff. The chapter said that your musical choices show alot about your personality. I am really scared!!! Listening to Run DMC and Aerosmith right now!! Marriage has done a number on me LOL>>>>>

I do use music to express how I am feeling more then writing it out to anyone. Even my journals will mostly be songs depending on the day. I don't think it is about who I listen to as opposed to what songs.

ll74, that's an interesting post and it is somehting I've noticed. When I was broken up with as a 20 something (last time I dated) I listened to all the sad songs of the time (nothing compares to you -Sinead O'Conner, Sara Maclauchlin, etc.). But after the recent dumping - 17 years of a relationship gone - All i felt like listening to was upbeat music. Der Kommisar by Falco was my new perfect song - upbeat, nothing about love. I've since been able to listen to a few sadder songs, but I'm still clinging to up tempo tunes for now.

I notice that I like more up tempo as well or songs that talk about getting over a person. I love listening to everything, I have not been a fan of sad songs though. Once in a blue moon...

When I am "in the shit", I don't listen to anything. When out, I listen to everything from ABBA to ZZ Top. My favorites are RUSH, (Gee, could ya tell?) McCartney, and Asia.

When I'm down I seem to like Staind. When I'm up its a mixed bag but Tonic, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Hall & Oates, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Kansas... tend to get more play.

LOL. My ipod is definitely a map of this journey. I didn't even get an ipod until I was separated so I have all my "its over" songs, then I have a lot of "Glad to be single songs" and included some "Girls kick ass" songs. Ah, Pink will get me through anything :)

I listen to the radio mostly, so whatever is on. But when I'm in a down mood I have to turn off the mushy love songs.

I will admit to listening to Adam Lambert's "What do you want from me?" to justify how my ex boyfriend was treating me, that he is misunderstood and all of that crap. Nothing justifies the way he treated me.

For three years I couldn't listen to the country music I was raised with. I'm happy to say that my xm radio in my truck is set to counrty music again. I haven't changed radio stations in almost 6 months.

For most of the last 3 months since the break up i couldn't stand music at all. Everything made me feel something i didn't want to.

Public radio is what my car was tuned to.

BUT NOW I CAN NOTE PROGESS: I have been listening to FIONNA APPLE! She is so crazy...just like me in her relationships and need to talk it out. Love it.
