The other thing that helped is that I grew to really care for myself. I was asked one day if I had found love on Plenty of Fish, the dating site I used to be on, and I said sort of.
One day I was at the lake and I saw this perfect reflection in the water of a pine tree. It was amazingly perfect, and I said, I have to get this picture. That is what I want. A perfect reflection of me. I ran home and got my camera to snap the shot and moved in real close to the waters edge to get it just right and then I looked down. I then saw the perfect person to love reflected in the water there, ME... When I learned to care for myself, I learned to feel that I deserve love, as much as anyone else. I learned that he could not or would not love me, but that did not make me unlovable. I am imminently lovable. and so are you.
You will get there one breath, one moment, one day at a time, until one day you will be walking, and your face will crack into a spontaneous smile, and you will be surprised. You will like the feeling so very much, that you will try to find it again, and you will succeed, as I have.
Happiness and being positive is a personal choice for me, and the rewards are well worth the effort in finding the path to it.
this letting go verse helped me, and I hope that it will help others , as I post it here for you all to see. Read it, and feel it. The release of the power they have over us, brings incredible peace. Healing hugs, Kimmee
To let go does not mean to stop caring,
it means I can't do it for someone else.
To let go is not to cut myself off,
it's the realization I can't control another.
To let go is not to enable,
but allow learning from natural consequences.
To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means
the outcome is not in my hands.
To let go is not to try to change or blame another,
it's to make the most of myself.
To let go is not to care for,
but to care about.
To let go is not to fix,
but to be supportive.
To let go is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.
To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,
but to allow others to affect their destinies.
To let go is not to be protective,
it's to permit another to face reality.
To let go is not to deny,
but to accept.
To let go is not to nag, scold or argue,
but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.
To let go is not to criticize or regulate anybody,
but to try to become what I dream I can be.
To let go is not to regret the past,
but to grow and live today.
