Guess he's punishing me

I hired a divorce attorney.  He called me a day later screaming, why did I rob the checking account.  Then I went to pick up my daughter from school but couldn't find her, so I tried calling her from my cell.  It had no service.  I parked and went into the school and they let me call her and I found her and took her home.  I called my phone company, he'd cancelled my phone.  Two days before the SIM card from my new provider arrived.  Now my phone is "locked" and I need an "unlock code" which I could only get by paying $1.47 and they'd email it to me.  So I used my check card.  It was denied.  He took me off the checking account.  I used a credit card.  Now I'm waiting for the email with the unlock code, will take 2 to 3 business days.  


But.  The longer I am away from him, the better I've been sleeping, the more energy I have, and the happier I have been.  I am lucky.  I owned a home before marrying him and my tenants moved out so I moved back in.  A family member sent me money and I got a money order today to pay the mortgage.  There was money left over and I bought small basil, dill, red bell pepper plants and when I planted them it made me incredibly happy and at peace.  I am finding me again.  I am now free to talk to my new neighbors and garden again!  My kitchen and bathroom are always clean without urine all over the toilet and the floor, dirty dishes and socks everywhere.  


Last night after I found out what he'd done I cried out of anger and frustration.  I wanted to punch walls and scream.  Today, it had no power over me.

I am so happy that you were able to find peace in the midst of your situation. Despite you husbands attempts to snatch everything away you were able to find something you lost ( yourself). Keep holding your head up high and rediscovering yourself. I wish you nothing but peace and happiness during this time.

Oh i feel you on that cry out of frustration. My ex just was turning stuff off left and right during our initial period. Tried to take my car even switch me off costco card i had paid for ! It was so stressful. Thank heaven that part is over but it in many ways feel like it was yesterday.

Thank you both. It's hard dealing with how unfair this all is but it is getting better. All I "robbed" the checking account of was the retainer for the attorney. The electricity was under my name in both houses but I never even considered cancelling it and leaving him and his kids without it (he just put it in his name apparently yesterday) or the kids' insurance, that's under my name too. While I'm scared of how this divorce will go, because of how nasty and vindictive he's shown himself to be though he's the one who cheated and "robbed" the account for years, I'm finding out how important the little things that makes us "us" are.

This is very common occurrence with separation and divorce. Document everything and be sure and tell your lawyer he took you off accounts. Whether he likes it or not, that account is considered marital property. He can't do that.

Thank you. I did call my attorney as today I found out things have become worse. I found out just now that he tried to take me off our car insurance, which I paid with my credit card for both of us until November. Fortunately they told him they could not do that. And now I've just received an email from an insurance adjustor about his claim that items were stolen from our house that he's keeping. I hope the latter is unrelated but with everything he's been doing without telling me, my new found peace of mind is shattering. I'm scared of what he'll do next. Our case hasn't been filed yet, and the paralegal says right now there's nothing we can do.

Have you discussed this situation with your lawyer? Your ex's actions, for sure, are illegal. And if you had discussed it with your lawyer and he did nothing, I would strongly advise you to fire him.     I'm horrified!  I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000.  I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter.  I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change.  Now this!  I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000.  I guess I have to pay...

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
