it's been my opinion for a very long time now that if things aren't close to equal in that department, resentments grow
you can keep count and grab what's yours
or you can try and invite him to become more sensitive, either through discussion or couples counselling, so that this issue doesn't fester
I hear ya sister, it was the bain of my existence with my exS, it's painful to ask for little and not receive it
give it your best shot before you give up/in
of course there are exceptions to every rule.
I've been where you are at. When I was married, he went everyday to buy his business newspaper that come out at a special time so while picking up that newspaper, he never once brought me back a soda, a candy bar, absolutely nothing. I was always giving. We were married 6 (six) yrs, and NO kids so he had plenty of money in his pocket at all times. I would frequently pick up a Mrs. Smith's cookie for him in the Mall and drop it off at his place of employment and sometimes met him for his break; he enjoyed this because I could see the joy on his face, but he NEVER reciprocated. I told him often, out of sight, out of mind! After the divorce, he called me at work, 7 yrs later, I asked him, Why didn't you EVER bring me back a soda or candy? He gave a lame answer: I thought about it many times but never did. I never believed a word he said and not that line either!
This happens to the best of us!
Many hugs and I wish you the best.
