Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
A lot of us are struggling with our solo futures when all we've focused on was moving forward together. Suddenly being alone (and feeling left behind from my X) has forced me to examine things I didn't even notice before about myself. A lot of my wants, needs, and things I enjoyed actually don't mean anything to me now. It's not so much that I've given up on them or the association factor. I think they only mattered to me because they mattered to him, and he of course mattered to me.
It has been so hard to separate the "me" from the "us." I still catch myself saying "we" instead of "I." And I do question myself daily about what I like or want. I think being complacent in a lonely marriage forced me to give up desires. It was almost like wanting things for myself was a betrayal to him. So I wanted things for "us" instead.
Like the other posters I'm still struggling to find my immediate footing but I look forward to the day I can stand again and ask myself where I want to go.
Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Child support and college are huge responsiblities for parents.
If I didn't have kids, I would travel the world.
Take any day as it came.
I certainly wouldn't have worked the last 9 years for the same client/customer..that gets old quick.
If you don't have children, enjoy your freedom to discover your passions.
Once you have kids, its a lot of pressure.
And I say that knowing I blew my chance at being a good father. I pay my support, but I don't have my kids in my daily life.
my goal is this whole fitness and wellness thing
there are consequences for all the impulsive choices I've made during my lifetime
I don't mind anymore having to change my entire way of being in my body if it means I can heal the damage I've done
that doesn't seem like enough
I feel like I "should" have another goal besides that one and the professional ones I have
but maybe I should just let that be enough for now
Well that and a sailboat.
But mostly sex. It's been so long I feel like a school girl again dreaming of my prince charming sweeping me off my feet in lustful exhuberance.
I think it's because the three I mentioned seemingly popped up out of the blue and they are things I never had a desire to pursue before, whereas backpacking and hunting are activities that I really enjoy but haven't done in more years than I care to remember.
Definitely want to do some backpacking next year and get out for big game season too.
if you need a crew member, I'm your girl.
That is my burning desire, even if it only lasts the 2 minutes of a slow moving song.
Goal: create a savings account to make my desire/dream come true.
Work, work, work.
No other real burning desires come to mind other than my doctorate. That's only been something that I have decided to pursue recently. I have a research project in mind that is doctoral thesis material. I figure if I'm going to do it, might as well get my doctorate while I do.
Goals for the next five years: I'm a pretty simple gal, finish school, begin working again, buy myself some property, and continue to enjoy being social.
I can go on and on in detail about how my life was absolutely ripped apart, turned inside-out and upside-down. Perhaps I'll journal it someday.
Remember the Old Me/New Me thread? I said something to the effect the old me is a part of the new me, and it's so very true. Even though I literally lost everything of material value (and even more than that), it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Because of that, I found the most precious thing imaginable: Myself. I passed through hellfire and brimstone, and arose from the ashes, soaring high like the mythical phoenix!
Without the old me and all the flaws and faults, I doubt I would be the new me.
Anyway, I just had to go and dig up pictures of the property. Here's a select few:
Here's where I planned on builing:

Back end of the apple orchard with my 1997 Ford F250 & 1951 Ford 8N tractor I used to brush hog the 10 or 12 acres of fields.

The property also had a small pond in the midst of 10 or so acres of pines. Maybe I'll upload those pics too. I have way too many pictures of that property to search through! :-)
Oh, and I also had a passion for old fast cars and hot rods. I had a 1967 Chevy Nova SS with a blueprinted and balance Chevy 350 LT1 with 30 thousndths over cylinders, high lift & duration cam, mechanical lifters, moroso deep-sum oil pan & pump, Edlebrock high-rise aluminum intake manifold with a Holley 750 double pumper carb, electric fuel pump in the trunk, Turbo 400 transmission with a shift kit and manual valvle bode, 2600 RPM stall converter, Hurst shifter, 12 bolt rear with 4:56 ratio, 10.5 inch slicks, 6 point roll cage. Used to race at South Hampton drag strip.
Yeah, it was a beast!!! Pretty close to 10 seconds in the quarter mile. This was before I went into the Air Force though. Didn't have it to lose when things fell apart. ;-)
