Today I particpated in my Department's program called Law Fit. It is a program designed to assess the fitness level and how we can preform crucial job tasks. It is a test that has multiple parts.

The first test that we completed today was a 1.5 mile run. I finished third in my group with a time of 13 minutes and 42 seconds. That isn't a bad time for the run at all (considering I hate to run and I haven't run in years).

The next test that we did was a V sit and reach. I really stunk it up in this test (sad considering I use to be extremely flexible in college).

Following that test we did pushups. It was to failure. I was able to do 27 pushups. That isn't too bad for a guy with a shoulder that is not doing too well.

After that we did situps. It was as many as you could do in a minute. I was only able to do 30 situps. I wish that they had more padding because everytime I went up I could feel my tailbone hit the floor.

The next test that we did was a lat pull down test. We had to pull down 100 pounds of weight as many times as we could. I was able to make 13 lat pull downs at that weight. Again, my shoulder was acting up and really bothering me again.

After that we did a max bench press. I was only able to press up 185 pounds. I guess that isn't bad, but I use to be able to do more.

The last test is an obsticle course that is a certain distance and you have to jump over a 3 foot gap, climb over a 5 foot wall, do a 20 foot low crawl, go up and down a step 12 times, climb through a window, choose a suspect (you get the description in the beginning of the course), drag a 150 pound dummy 25 feet, and then dry fire a gun through a small hole with your right hand and left hand. The time stops after you pull the trigger. I did this in 1 minute and 15 seconds (this isn't too bad).

Overall I think that I did okay in it. Not bad for a 31 year old guy who had a heartattack 3 years ago.

Does anyone else have to do fitness assessments for work or anything else?
