Actually, "fake it until you make it" doesn't work for me. I'm no good at faking it, and actually forcing myself to fake it--like putting on a smile when I'm down--just makes me mad, which puts me into a worse mood/position. I'm better to just let life wash over/around me and get back on the rollercoaster when it slows down enough for me to hop back on... instead of faking it and sprinting to catch up.
I don't know if that makes any sense...???...

Actually, it does work, I think. I didn't exactly "fake it" I just decided one day that I was gonna be happy (at some point, probably two years in) and it worked for me! I put on a green face and have had a green face ever since, NO MATTER WHAT, because I understand now that I am fundamentally happy, just have problems is all. I decided to stop identifying myself as "unhappy" and started identifying myself as thankful & grateful for so very much, but acknowledging at the same time that I had problems & issues. It would take a long time to explain it all, I just wanted to chip in is all, and to let you know that you are OK and that you will make it. (((hugs)))

I can't fake it. I have a hard time with that. The way I look at it is that I'll feel the pain, until it's gone. Try not to let it stick around too long, but they say you have to go through it to get through it.

Life is all what you make it and the best revenge is happiness and success. (Hugs)

I'm with Namaste. What you resist persists. So I just accepted my life was all about healing and recovery and that included pain, grief, anger, until it faded away. It included seeing myself as though I had been poisoned or been in a traffic accident and needed time, therapy, the attention of health professionals and patience...man did I have to learn patience....and acceptance that this was my life... a life of healing.

The last thing to fall in place is this dating/relationship piece. I don't even fake that. I'm not ready yet, even though just about everything in my life is, my heart isn't....but it's getting closer, bit by bit.


It's a process of baby steps I think.

I am only two months into this private hell. I hope everyday for it to be better, it never is.

Thank you all...I am just so sad and I cannot fake anything anymore. I just need to breakdown but when I do, I can't stop crying. It's a cycle.

I just see you still posting these sorts of messages the whole time I've been on DS and I worry that you feel trapped with nothing to look forward to, or any other options.

what things are you doing to help yourself?

I think there has to be some sense of moving forward, even if it's babysteps over time.
