so yes - my guard is up until i get to know someone - friendship, co-worker, partner, etc. i think thats healthy. at least it is for me.
if i start to feel defensive about something, i try to step back and see why i am defensive. if it is because its something i am working on, then i sort it out and respond to it accordingly. if its something disrespectful and someone is being ignorant or trying to push my buttons, depending on my mood i usually try to face it and talk to them about it.
its hard to say tho - im not planning on diving into a relationship anytime soon - but i know with other relationships i have had, including the one with my exhusband, i wasnt expecting it. i was swept away by the emotions - the energy. thats the fun part right? i dont want to lose that part of it - i just want to be realistic about things too.
i dont know. i dont feel like i am answering your question.
