Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Now, the emotion your feeling is Empathy, you're subconsciously putting yourself in that family and feeling the loss of the patriarch. Aside from that, you WERE in that family for quite a while and gave him wonderful grandchildren, I'm sure there are some beautiful memories you have of him being a grandfather. As to whether or not you should go? Well, My stbx's grandmother is dying as I type, however, I will not go unless asked to by her. I love Grandma, as all grandmas should be loved, but I will respect her families right and her right to feel completely comfortable to let their grief out.
The funeral really isn't about the person who passed, it's about the family that's left behind and how to help them and show your support while they go through this very, very difficult time. It's about making their last memory of that person a beautiful and respectful goodbye. If you can add to that, do so. If you can't, don't go.
